University College Roosevelt (UCR)

Einddatum: zondag 23 maart 2025

Are you passionate about financial management and ensuring the long-term fiscal health of an organization? University College Roosevelt (UCR) is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Financial Controller to support our dynamic Liberal Arts and Sciences program. If you thrive in fast-paced, small-scale environment and are eager to contribute to the financial success of a small college with big impact, we encourage you to apply!

Organization

UCR is one of the English taught International Honors Colleges of Utrecht University. The staff and students form a vibrant academic community centered on a Liberal Arts and Sciences bachelor’s education. Students hail from all over the globe and follow a broad and intensive study program in the historic town of Middelburg, where they live on the centrally located city campus.

UCR graduates continue their study careers in master programs all over the world. What sets UCR alumni apart is their self-confidence, their civic engagement, and their entrepreneurial sense of opportunity. Our alumni are scholars, writers, scientists, software engineers, entrepreneurs, medical doctors, conservationists, and environmentalists; they are lawyers, musicians, bankers, activists, teachers, artists, politicians, diplomats, strategic advisors—and so much more. UCR is a vibrant breeding ground for those who want to make a difference in the world.

Our program

The UCR curriculum is organized into six clusters of related courses. These clusters include Business and Entrepreneurship, Data Science and Intelligent Systems, Environment and Sustainability, Government and Society, Health, Cognition and Behavior, and Media, Culture, and Communication. The curriculum is structured in a modular format, enabling students to design their academic pathways with minimal prerequisites. Each cluster collaborates with external stakeholders through real-world applications, research, and community engaged learning.

Our administrative structure

Six operational units make up the administrative branch of the college. The units work closely together under the supervision of the Managing Director and are responsible for the following areas of operation within the college: Finance, Control and Administration (FCA); Human Resources (HR); Information and Technology Services (ITS); Campus and Facilities Services (CFS); Student and Academic Affairs (SAA); and Marketing, Communications, Recruitment & Admissions (MCRA).

The FCA office supports the Executive Board in maintaining healthy financial foundations for the college. More specifically, the unit is responsible for the process of the planning and control cycle, financial administration and operations and ensuring that statutory regulations are complied with. The unit also provides a broad range of administrative services including financial accounting, which takes care of financial administration of all operational units; personnel and payroll administration, which takes care of salary payments; and student administration, which ensures that tuition fees are collected in a timely manner. The FCA consists of two team members; a Financial Administrator and the Financial Controller (vacant).

What you will do

As Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing a company’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and efficient internal controls. You will lead on budgeting, financial analysis, tax planning, and audit processes while ensuring that financial statements are prepared correctly and on time. Additionally, you will assist the MD with optimizing financial procedures, and provide insights to support business decision-making. • Maintain accurate and timely financial, project, personnel, and payroll administration.
  • Advise on and provide financial justification for investments and business cases.
  • Provide solicited advice to the board on financial and economic matters.

What you need to bring

  • Strong analytical skills, integrity, and the ability to set the right priorities.
  • A collaborative and decisive personality with strong team-player qualities.
  • An HBO/WO degree in a financial or economic field.
  • Expertise in financial and business processes.
