Manager Engineering Department

We are seeking someone to ensure the development of industry-leading composite spars that meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. The successful candidate will lead the design process, manage a team of 8 engineers, and collaborate closely with production and project teams to deliver our projects on time, to specification, and budget.

Key Responsibilities

 Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and mentor a team of design engineers, fostering technical capability and continuous improvement.
• Workload planning of engineering resources to suit production requirements and budgets.
• Support the professional growth of team members through training and knowledge sharing.
• Conduct design reviews and manage the revision and approval process.
• Focus on procedures and a healthy and safe work environment.

Technical Responsibilities

• Drive innovation in mast, boom, and rigging design, incorporating the latest advances in engineering and engineering automation.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Engineering Design systems to enhance customer experience and company profitability.
• Oversee the design and structural analysis of high-performance carbon fibre spars, including masts, booms, and rigging components.
• Ensure designs are optimised for weight, stiffness, and function while meeting class rules, certification requirements, and customer expectations.
• Support the engineering team with design related tasks including CAD, calculations and FEA.

Project & Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with the Hall Spars Project Management team to tailor rig solutions to specific project needs and goals.
• Collaborate with sales, project management and production teams to ensure manufacturability and smooth integration of new designs into the build process.
• Identify and mitigate design risks, ensuring the robustness and reliability of all structures.
• Report on project progress, challenges, and resource needs to senior management.
